anybody out there had a game(s) of "Tour of Duty" (TOD) yet ? , I got my copy about a week and a half ago and haven't had a game yet.

I did play "Tropic Lightning" a bit early least year ...and liked it (I'm not afraid to admit) ...
I think for what it sets out to do (big battles) it does it well .

I was sorta hoping it would be tweaked a little more from the "WW2 model" of play to a bitmore of a "Vietnam-specific" model, but i reckon it will be / is still a good 'game'.

I particularly like the 'scout' and 'ambushing' rules as they play out in FOW, and the 'standard scenario' offerings .

Are the FOW fans getting into it yet ? , or is there a bit of "wait and see" going on until all the wonderful toys arrive ???

I admit I've been flat out with FPM admin and 'keeping up' that i've not even thought of a game recently.

... Bugger ! this FPM undertaking was supposed to be an excuse to do MORE gaming , not less !

Played my first game this week, I had 650pts of ANZACS (cav list) against 600 NVA.

It was a fun game, but not realistic at all, it does also play different from WW2.

The NVA did most of their damage with an ambuscade at the start and it was good/a pain, how they could reappear when destroyed.

I will be playing more of it 😉

Maaate ! you are so spot-on ! I've done more figure-handling than ever in the last few months, heaps of painting...but not what I really want to be putting together, heaps of terrain 'prototyping'...but not opened the box of Pinkysil to finish it to end-"stage one", heaps of market research..buying "one of" everyone else's stuff to ensure compatibility, talked to sculptors, mould makers, stockists, rule-writers, designers etc. etc. across six time zones, tried to say "G'day" to everyone who has 'come past (and I know I've missed a few..sorry), ...but not had a game since end of last-year !
Yes ! next time I'm 'round ..let's put TOD on the table and give it a 'run. good call !

Now just gotta get back to the order of 'Aussies I've promised to ship tomorrow , and finish off the 'big one' to the USA by friday. ..then cast some more M113's ,and hooches, and sandbags, and sampans ...oh bugger , bugger , bugger ...

? is this wargamer's heaven , or wargamer's hell ? ...
